okay, so i got new parts yesterday, so i popped them in there and started doign memtest. both sticks had no errors after 5 hours each of testing. so i thought, they were good to go. so i ran them both at the same time... and waht happens? errors after 20 minutes. so after testing both sticks seperately AGAIN. i concluded that theres nothing wrong with the ram. so i shrugged and loaded windows. and with two sticks of ram, it wouldn't boot up into windows either. all it does is, flash weirdly at the windows logo screen, and by the time you get to teh login screen, it just restarts. now i'm pissed, so i went into bios and bumped votages to 2.7...nothing, 2.8 bingo. booted into windows with 2.8

BUT IT STILL DOESN'T PASS MEMTEST.

plus, running at 2.8 stock is really weird....and dangerous. so do you guys know any reason why my ram is doing this to me?

specs: patriot 512x2 sticks running at 2-3-2-5
dfi lan party ultra-d

Waht does Patriot say is the default V for these sticks? Were they bought as a dual channel kit? Are you sure they are in the correct slots for dual channel?

I know these are kinda obvious questions for your, but I had to throw them out...

Whats about relaxing the timmings just to see?

I know that DC does put more stress on memory so I would, just to get a claerer picture, run the 2 stick in single channel and then in DC but with more relaxed timming.

I dont think you will rduce the lifespan by a big margin running the sticks a 2.8...

And do you have the exacting mfr ratings of the stix?

I meant manufacturer=mfr... so that 2.6v and the timming is wat I was lloking for. Do they have some extended voltage warranty like OCZ?
And try both single channel as mentionned

yeah, i did, and they both work fine, and recommended latency is 2-2-2-5... which is tighter then what i have right now

okay, i fixed it, tweeked the bios a little bit, has to do with signal strength, but yeah, it runs fine at 2.6v now

I wonder what percentage of systems are being pumped out without a FDD nowadays? I realistically only use mine for limited hardware/software setup, but I would hate not having one. I use Thumbdrives or CDs for data transport. Floppies are too small, especially when you're doing powerpoint warfare.

I agree completely - that's exactly why I have a few laying around.

I dont understand why microsoft doesnt allow you to use a CD instead of a floppy when installing RAID controllers. Then i would have no need for a floppy drive at all.

*shrugs*
not enough people have screamed loud enough for it to be a concern to them. At least that's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

You could rebuild your windows cd with the raid drivers on it...I put sp2 on mine...i'm sure there's a way to put your drivers on yours.

F@H:
AMD: [64 3000+][2500+][2400+][2000+][1.3][366]
Intel: [X 3.0x3][P4 3.0x2][P4-M 2.4][P4 1.4]

Yeh I rebuilt my windows CD with SP4 and was thinking about adding the RAID drivers aswell. But A) I wouldnt know where to put them and B) I assume other files would have to be edited for the drivers to load at setup.

But im sure you could do it.
