I bought the OCZ PC4400 EL Gold 2x512mb about a year ago, but I need 2 gig of ram now (lots of CAD/Hammer and BF2). So what is the best thing I can do, buy another 1024mb of exactly the same, or switch to 2x1gig of OCZ memory? If its 2x1gig, which should I get? Dont mind the price, work hard for it. I like to be OC proof with my mem. I currently am running it with a FX-53@2,6/MSI K8N Neo2/Gainward 6800Ultra GS OC
Using more than 2 slots, you CPU, not being the new revision, might default the ram at 333mhz and 2T command rate. So, I think selling it and gettign 2X1gig would be a wiser choice. I didnt see any test with 2X512 in one channel and 1X 1gig in the other.
Also, I think there is a possibility that your ram will default at 2T while using more than 1 gig.
Edit: Why note try it with adding only 1 gig see the results and if you're not happy, ditch the 2X512 and get another gig of the same stuff. Those Dual Channel package dont change much!

Friend of mine has the same motherboard and added another 2x512mb, and his mem indeed got stuck at 2T instead of 1T. I guess its the same with every memory? Cheap or Expensive ones.
If 4x512mb is giving lot less performace than 2x1gig, I will sell the 2x512 I have now.

The issue is on the processor, it has a built-in on-die memory controller. I does perform much better but has some limitation. The newer cores handle this issue better!
