I need instructions/diagram to replace the hd--when booting, stops and says no operating sys-cked set up and says no hard drive

Anyway, your disk may be damaged. I'd put it inside of another computer and see if it recognizes it so you can run a diagnostic. Your hard disk is usually accessible from a panel on the bottom of the machine.
