System: Pentium 4, 2.80GHZ, 1 GB ram, XP, SP3

Get an error code 39 when installing scanner driver - happened for Epson Perfection 2450 and Canon MP210. Assume there is corruption in registery, but not sure where. This PC had Epson 2450 up and running at one time, but apparently after some "system cleanup" which included uninstalling driver, the problem surfaced on first reinstall attempt. I thought problem might be peculiar to 2450 so I attempted the install of the MP210 - same error on scanner, but printer functions are Okay.
