DVD to hard disk: dvd rom needed?

hello, I was wondering if there was a way to transfer the contents of a DVD to a hard disk by just using my cd writer.

The DVD is DVD9ual Layer single sided, NTSC.

My cdwriter is a LITE-ON 52x32x52

A DVD requires a DVD-ROM just like a CD requires a CD-ROM.

The answer is no.

With that said, a DVD-RW dl is dirt cheap nowadays. You might want to consider upgrading.
