i had the ms antispyware tell me a layered service had been added to my pc,
but thats all the info there is about it--i looked in event viewer and theres
nothing- im relatively new to computing, and know only of event viewer to
look at pc activity-can anyone tell me of a more detailed program to view pc
activity?

Try Process Explorer from SysInternals. It's free and available here:
