my laptop takes 10 mins to startup even after i used the toshiba recovery cd to take it right back to factory settings....any ideas why

Add more RAM, and replace the 5200rpm HDD with a 7200rpm.

Check to make sure the harddrive is running in DMA mode not PIO mode.

make sure the fan is working, if it overheats, it may clock down to save it self.
