I don't know because I have been a MAC purchaser for years. Mac however is sucking at updating their laptops when we have laptops with core-i7s and better GPU/RAM for the price.
i hear HP and Dell are the best way, although some people say HPs are made very "crappily". Gateway maybe. I honestly don't know much about PC brands

I need a solid laptop I can do my designing with while i'm away from my mac pro. I do want a laptop that has better techs such as DDR3 memory. I do want a core-i7 since it utilizes CAD and photoshop. I was thinking of Acer, but their $1200 PC runs DDR2. The GPU is important. $1000 base model works for me and build up to $1200 if I have to.
