I have an old hard drive that was previously installed on my laptop, it became to corrupted to even boot the windows 7 cd and format it during the installation, so i had to remove it, install a new one and then i bought a caddy case for the old hard drive and formatted it, but now when i put the old hard drive back into my laptop and try to install it it says it not possible because my hard drive is not compatible, I've looked all over for an answer, id be very grateful if anyone could help

Put it back in the external caddy and run some diagnostics on the drive. Run Windows scandisk on the drive. Here are some other testing programs, depending on what brand drive: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/tophdd...

If it comes up as okay, then try a new full format using ntfs.
