I'm going to be looking to be using it mainly for surfing the net, watching movies, editing movies/photos (Photoshop) and recording music. Being able to play GTA4 would be a plus. However, I DO like some portability....

If I were in your spot, I would probably go with the Toshiba. I've had some bad experiences with HP's lasting barely a year (i.e. my last three). However, if you are heavy into editing movies and photos, the Apple may be your best bet, but it will cost you a pretty penny in comparison. The most bang for the buck will probably be had with a PC. I currently have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and haven't had an issue.
