Hi ,

I can sell my DDR RAM 512 MB PC2100 for 45 USD a piece
and I can buy newer DDR2 512MB pc4200 for 44 USD , but they will have to used in a new mobo...

My question furthermore , will I notice a definate performance change changing from DDR1 PC2100 to DDR2 4200 ??? The size will be the same only speed will change, correct??

Please advise
Thank you in Advance
Ralph

What mobo is it ?
I suggest you shall not buy a mobo with a higher FSB than 800 MHz, so 2 x 266 MHz will be higher than the normally supported memory speed of 2 x 200 MHz ?
normally, you always have gain of speed.
even if your mobo doesn't support the higher speeds.
You should have to change the BIOS values of the Latencies values to values that are about 1 latency lowered or something like that. Just put the lowest values in your BIOS. You should change them if not succesfully of course.

It will give you a performance boost of something like 15 %, looks good, isn't it :p

ASUS P5WD2 Premium
Intel 3.73 EE @ 5.6Ghz

Pretty much no differece in performance between DDR 266 (133MHz), and DDR2 400 (200MHz).

DDR-266 can run at CL2 normally. DDR2-400 runs at CL4. This difference in latency makes up for any noticible difference in performance.
