AMD64, 2GB, 2 or 4 dimm?

Ok here is my dilemma, I am building a new system based on the AMD64 (San Diego core). I want the best performance I can get out of my memory. I am however reading strange things about the 64s memory controller like it wont support 4 dimms at 1T command rate. So if I go for 4*512, which seem to support the fastest latencies (2-2-2-5) I would have to run at 2T. If however I go for 2*1024 I can run at 1T but the dimms will only support slower latencies (2.5-3-3-6). So my question is which is going to be faster at stock speeds? Also what would the story be if I decide I want to overclock the memory?

I shall be buying a Asus A8N Premium and the memory choice is between Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) or two times Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x512MB). Although I’m open to suggestions if anyone has better ideas.

PS. My apologies if I am repeating a past question, but I couldn’t find any reference to this anywhere.

The performance difference is not very significant between the two choices. However, 2 DIMMS are usually more stable than 4 DIMMS.

I would go with 2x1024MB for this reason.

Both seem to be okay brands. Maybe somone else can share their thoughts as well.
