I'm trying to recover a friends laptop after a virus attack and used the recovery partition. Now I'm trying to update everything including drivers, etc - but SP3 will only go to about 20% and stop - that's it, no more. I've gone ot MS's website and done all their stuff like changing the download folder name, etc. - but still no luck. This has an AMD processor and I fixed an HP before that and AMD and it required a special patch before SP3 would run, but Acer's website sucks. Any help out there.?

i think you need to do a fresh install instead of usingthe recovery partition or you can try downloading sp3 put it on a disk then install from the disk
