I have a windows 7 install on a raid 0 striped partition comprised of 2 180gb SATA3 SSD's. I have my data on 2 600gb platter 10k RPM SATA3 6gbps drive that are raid 1 mirror. It appears that one of my SSD's in the raid 0 striped set died (SMART Event).
I figure I'll have to get 2 more SSD's this time I'll buy bigger ones and configure them for RAID1 so I don't have to reinstall next time a member fails.
The SSD's are less than a year old. My questions-
1) When I install the new Win7 on the RAID1 SSD's should I put the swap on the platter RAID1 to avoid swapping to SSD? If so how do I do it?
2) When I install the new Win7 on new RAID1 SSD's how do I mount the 600gb RAID 1 platter based file system into my new Win7 install w/o losing the data?
thanks very much for any guidance anyone has on this. I don't want to lose my data even though I have it backed up on carbonite would rather ensure something didn't back up isn't lost and it will take forever to restore 500gb of data from carbonite online.
