Hi all,
I just bought a WD 250 External HD for backup purposes. I just read in the documentation that it "is preformatted as a single FAT 32 partition for compatibility with all Windows operating systems..."
My XP Pro system is formatted in NTFS. Is this going to create a problem with an image of my system backed up on this external drive?
Thanks for any info
Gary

Since you are using XP it might be good to reformat the drive in NTFS format to take advantage of its features.
If you will be connecting this drive to other machines with older versions of Windows then having the FAT format on it will make it readable and writable with the older OSs.

What I meant... hehe.. to have it and have all the space on the drive usefool. With 32k sector size versa 4k NTFS we're talking what.. 8 times waste (in worst case):?(
