Palm Ethernet Cradle / Palm Vx used with DockV adaptor

I recently aquired a Palm ethernet cradle for Palm III units and am
attempting to run a Vx in a DockV adaptor. Palm does not seem to have
any instructions online for how to set this device. Can someone point
me to a FAQ or instructions somewhere?

The cradle is talking to my network which is running DHCP. The Palm
shows a connection as initialized and established. After this hotsync
starts but times out and fails with a can't establish connection message.

My desktop connection manager settings are configured to allow network
hotsync.
