Hey, i just bought a Sony 46' LCD 1080p (kdl46vl130) and have set it up as my PC monitor for gaming/movies, etc. I have it connected with a VGA cable and am currently only able to get 1024x768 resolution. Do i have to buy an HDMI capable video card in order to get a higher resolution out of the TV?

This is a "V series" set.
According to what I interpret from the Sony Manual for this Set
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDL40VL130.pdf
you are going to need a HDMI cable to get the full resolution.

I have the same issue with my "X series". But with a HDMI cable and the right video card it gives a great picture.

Your video card must support higher resolution to 1920X1080 and HDCP.

What is your video card?
