Hi Guys,

What's the best (performance wise) SATA II (3Gb/s) for around $300 or less? There probably are more expenisve RAID controllers, but my budget is limited.

SATA-IO is the <A HREF="http://www.serialata.org/" target="_new">SATA International Organization</A>, which developed the SATA-II specification.

However, I'd wait a few months if you can. Right now they are finishing off the SATA-2.5 Specification, which, while it does not have any new features over SATA-II, it does mae all the new features compulsory, rather than optional.

I'm assuming that you're talking about their <A HREF="http://anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2450" target="_new">misconceptions article</A>.

Re-read it. It says
The three main misconceptions are that:

* "SATA II" has now been renamed to SATA-IO
* SATA-IO must support 3Gbps transfers
* SATA-IO must support features like NCQ and Hot Plug
Note: 3 main <b>mis</b>conceptions.
