I've been through three in 3 years on my Vaio. The closk starts losing time and then I replace the battery. It's happened three times now.

Maybe you're not keeping your laptop cool enough. Heat has a way of lowering the lifespan of batteries, including the one powering your BIOS.

I've read that maybe it's a faulty motherboard. Would there be other symptoms? I've also had to replace the hard drive a year ago. It's coming up on three years old.
