Hi.

My upcoming project is to digitalize family photographs and I was wondering the best way to do this? That being not spending 5 mins on Adobe Photoshop trying to get the colours right etc.

My current scanner specifications are highlighted below (1):

Scanning method: CIS
Optical resolution: 600 x 2400dpi
Colour Depth (Input/ Output): 36/ 24 bit

After doing some research it appears that my scanner would not be sufficient enough to do good quality scans of photos. It has been decided that after the scan of the photos, the original albums will most likely be thrown away therefore I will try and get a high quality scanner.

I am lead to believe that "Film scanners" are when you insert the negative film tape somehow and it scans it? I am not sure if I require this as most i.e. 95% of the photos are in an album with no negatives.

So can someone recommend a good scanner? Thank-you. Appreciate any help.
