Hello all,

I am requiring some advice on whether or not it would be sensible to buy a new 24" monitor. Current one is the Dell 2405fpw.

The basic situation is I am in the mood for wasting some money and recently my dads monitor, some rubbish 17" thing kicked the bucket and he is looking for a replacement.

Now seeing as my monitor was bought some 3-4 years ago I thought it could be a good excuse to update mine and give this one to my folks.

The problem being is I am not sure if a new monitor would be worth it. Doing a bit of searching and focusing mainly on the new dell 2408wfp or the HP LP2475W.

Both seem very nice monitors and specs wise an improvement on my current one but not sure if enough to justify the expense.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

Don't know anything about the 2405WFP, so I don't know the benefits of the newer 2408WFP. The 2408WFP originally had issues with input lag of up to 50ms or 3 frames with the original version (A00). It is now up to revision A03 so I would assume that the input lag is been reduced by now. Down to what? I don't know.

When I originally upgrade from my old 19" Planar PX191, I went the bigger is better route, buy replacing it with a 26" NEC LCD2690WUXi. I have since added the 26" Planar PX2611w and 23.5" Asus VK246H to my collection.

Thx for the response, for better or worse I decided to go with the HP.

The input lag has been measured on the dell as about 32 on average I think which is pretty much on par with the HP but I thought I would go with another brand this time.

Although subjective I have heard it will be far better than the one I have but we will see.

Cost for these things is still quite alot but they have come down considerably since I bought my current one although nothing has changed in many companies not offering enough options as far as stands, inputs for future compatability and panel type.

Looking at your collection it is a good thing I only need one monitor and only have room for one.
