Most laptop motherboards do not feature replaceable CPU's, and even if you could, there is still the issue of whether or not your BIOS would support the new chip.

the cpu's from all my old laptops can be removed, its easier than removing the plastic casing. Im pretty sure the upgrade would work, but u should probably email gateway and see if your bios supports the q9000.

Since the Q9000 is a quad, you need to seek this advice directly from Gateway.

You are thinking GPU not CPU. CPU upgrades are possible on almost all laptops now-a-days so long as there is support for them from the company.

As 4ryan6 said, your best bet is to contact Gateway and ask. They should be able to give you a better/ more definitive answer than we can.
