TV tuner/ Cable cars

I'm lookng to build a HTPC, but before I do I wanted to know if there are TV tuner cards or other types of adapters that allow you to use a Cable card? If I'm going to build a HTPC, I would love to be able to get rid of both my DVD players and digital cable box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I've seen Digital Cable tuner cards, but they weren't cheap, and only supported one digital cable format, so if you move you might have to get a different card.
