I'm upgrading my DVD burner. I'm wondering if I can put my old TDK440n in a Firewire external enclosure for my wife to use on her ibook. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Anthony

Firewire is Firewire I don't see the problem as long as you have the ports available to access everything.

Tried it. Didn't work. The drive was sort of recognized, but it would neither play nor burn a dvd.

Under those circumstances of the drive being external, drivers for the unit need to be loaded on the machine, have you done that?

For different operating systems my external HDD has drivers the only Operating systems that don't need them are Win2K and WinXP, but all the other windows operating systems do including Mac.
