Hi,
I have an problem with my machine and I'm at my wits end.
I have tried many different hard drives but the same thing always ends up happening.

I have the drives connected as master slave on the EIDE connector, not SATA. I have tried with just one drive as
master. I have tried cable select as well.

I have tried using a different power connector from my 500 watt Antec power supply.

My drives have a hard time spinning up, when I turn the system on I sometimes have to press reset a bunch of times until the hard drives will spin up, I can hear the heads clicking and it constantly trying to spin up. Over time the hard drives break down, eventually it won't boot up at all. I've tried swapping out the drive for others but they
all do the same. This system USED to work until one day this happens.

How can I isolate this problem ?

Any ideas, could it be the drive controller on the motherboard ?

Thanks guys !

I bought this 500 watt antec especially. Maybe it's gone already, hmmm. Can I use another power supply to just power the h/disk just to test this ?

I have an old power supply. I could run the power plug from that to the hard disk just to test.

Thanks for your response.
