Running DDR400 as DDR333

If I buy a new DDR400 CL3 can it be used with an existing DDR333 CL2.5 module at CL2.5 assuming the ram is compliant with the JEDEC specification?

The ram in question is Kingston DDR400 CL3.

Both memory modules will run at DDR-333 speeds, but not guaranteed to run at CL2.5 latency.
