almost all laptop's HDDs will run slow because of the 5400RPM spindle rate, that and their HDD's if you want blazing speed swap your HDD for an SSD. Unless you mean that the speed of your laptop used to be fast now its running slow then, go to seagate's website and download seatools, it'll work on other drives besides seagates. Burn the .img file to a DVD/CD and boot from the CD/DVD to run seatools.

Hi there.. yes indeed I got your answer and it did work out fine with the seagate diag tools.
thanks very much for your support and here's a link I found for you in case you ever need it. :)

Here are my favorite tools, both free, you will need to download and burn the ISO file (Windows 7 can burn iso's by default) to a CD.

They will both be bootable CD's once you have burned them.

Memory test
http://www.memtest86.com/ (Ver 4.0a - Windows (zip) ISO image for creating bootable CD)

Hard drive test
http://www.seagate.com/support/internal-hard-drives/consumer-electronics/ld25-series/seatools-dos-master/

These are nice tools to have man....

Cheers,

Luc
