2) Search online for laptops that you think fit your needs, concentrating on products that fall within your budget, and call it "research".

3) Read reviews and ask people about these laptops, see what you think performs the best, is the most reliable, provides the best value, and call it "further research".

4) Go to a computer store or a website that has the laptop you want available, pay by cash or credit card, and call it "shopping".
