Why is my lcd tv 3/4 partially dark when I first turn it on

SAMSUNG LCN4661FX/XAA 46" LCD FLATSCREEN TV

Recently started showing large horizontal swaths taking up the bottom 3/4 of the screen that are dark or partially dark. Problem eventually goes away after about 30 minutes of use and seems normal after that. What can be done to troubleshoot or fix this?

I suspect the backlighs are dying. Can you upload an image of the problem?
