Here's the link for the free version...just download and run the setup file. I have no experience with Avira, I use MSE, so I can't vouch on which one is better.

I fix viruses EVERY day and I can vouch that MSE is better lol...

I see LOTS of machines with Avira AND VIRUSES.....

I wouldn't doubt it, I've been very happy with MSE ever since I began using it. Love the lightweight UI and the fact that scans don't slow everything down. I use MSE with a Malwarebytes scan every once and awhile, seems to be a pretty good combination.

You do PRECISELY what I advise my shop customers to do if they cannot afford Norton....

MSE + MBAM = the best of the free ones....
