Here is the dilemma. I got a Compaq Presario 5000Z. (Ok before you panic, this isn't my gaming system.) Anyways, it runs my web and ftp server. I would like to run the machine in RAID. My main machine got 2x74GB Raptors in RAID 0. Obviously that was built for speed. This machine is a server, so I want redundancy. I was thinking of getting a PCI SATA RAID controller card and setting up 2x200 GB drives in RAID 1. My question is, the motherboard BIOS only supports an 80GB drive MAXIMUM, but wouldn't the PCI card override that since it has its own BIOS on the card. There shouldn't be a problem, correct? Also, the chipset is a KT133, would that cause a bottleneck for the RAID? Obviously it would run on the PCI bus at 133 MB/sec. I doubt the RAID array will be close to the 133MB, because my Raptors only get around 118 MB/sec, and that is RAID 0, and this will be RAID 1.

Thanks wusy. See you got back into F@H. You're lucky getting those 600 pointers. I did around 65 work units and am still waiting to get one of them. I have the large wu's box checked in the configuration. Guess I am just unlucky.

I am Folding with the following comps:

AMD Athlon XP 3000+
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
AMD Duron 900 Mhz
Intel Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Prescott

No real difference between AXP and A64. The Athlon XP 3000+ is clocked higher than the A64 3200+, and sometimes the XP is faster. Depends on the WU.
