Apart from having more room for free expansion, is there any reason to reach 2GB with 2 1GB modules instead of 4 512MB modules?

The reason I'm asking is because this 2 X 512 Crosair combination is cheaper than any 1 GB module I can find. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145440

I intend on using an Athlon 64 3500+ and I know its rookie not to, but I'm not intrested in overclocking at all, and my biggest concern is stability really.

thanks!

1) 2 modules are more stable than 4
2) 4 modules on A64 mobos usually can't run at full speed (need 2T command timing)
3) There is no 3 that I can think of

2*1GB won't necessarly run at 1T. I know I get memtest errors.

Is there not new 1gig chips coming out soon that run at 1T in dual channel?

Doesn't that have to do more with the memory controller?

the more things you have plugged in the more likely your system will be unstable... like having 2 cpu's, or 2 video cards, or 4 sticks of RAM instead of 2. This is just common sense - the more parts you got the more chances of something going wrong.
