i enabled SMART and its shows everything is ok.
i tested, as advised here, with the WD tools. it said the drive is fine.

however, i cannot download files to that drive. i cannot unzip files to that drive. when i do so i get "semaphore timeout, write failed" error.

its takes me a lot of time to moves files to that drive.

is there a way to diagnose it better? or what to do with it?

Is the drive placed where there is good airflow around it? These things will act funny if they get too warm also.

it is placed right infront of a front 120mm fan, and i clean the filter every week.. i doubt it doesnt get enough air
