Does windows detect your modem?

It's too hard to help you when we don't know all the details. What kind of broadband connection do you use? If it's a DSL modem, is it USB or though your network card? Does your service have a dynamic IP, in which you are supposed to enter a username and password to actually connect?

If you know the answers to these questions, you should be able to configure your computer yourself. Go to the Control Panel from your Start Menu, right click Network Connections and open it. If you have "Show common tasks in folders" enabled, under Network Tasks, click "Create a new connection". If not, go to File > New Connection. Then, go through that wizard and answer the prompts.

Good luck!
