How many hours video recording on a flash drive

my husband wants to record his old westerns onto a zip drive if possible. how many gb's does he need on the zip if it is possible and how many hours of recording can be done on it? thanks in advance for your help....searched all over for a quick answer and you were the only site where i could ask the question directly!!!!

depends on the resolution.. any compression.. and the audio sample rate, bitdepth, number of channels, and any compression used.


best way to do it is find the recorder.. start recording to the regular hard drive.
if you save 1 minute of the video, then you know a pretty close number as to how much memory you need per minute.

maybe you could record your desktop for a minute with a youtube video or something.. and see how much memory it takes for 1 minute.
