Hey all, I'm looking for some much needed advice.

I am in the market for a monitor to connect to my Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. Something around $200 (under if possible), 20in-23in, 1080p resolution, a high contrast ratio.

I watch a lot of movies on my computer and do a bit of gaming. But I also want something good for just typical laptop use since my current resolution is only 1280 x 800. Looking for something good here and am open to all advice/suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, all three probably have the same panel inside.

My laptop seems to only have a VGA port. Will that limit the resolution I can receive on the monitor?

The Acer is only reporting dynamic contrast ratio, which is far less important than static contrast ratio (around ~1000:1 for a decent LCD - pretty much any number over 1500:1 is guaranteed to be dynamic). It's a good way to make the contrast ratio appear better than it actually is.

Oh, and the VGA port should work fine.

Good to know about the VGA port. I am looking at this monitor here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 8049006792

Mainly, because I can pick it up at my local best buy.
