Please help me connect my audio to hdtv
I have a geforce gts 250, and i have a wire - hdmi male, dvi male. the dvi is going to the back of my computer, now i also have another wire, 3.5mm minijack for the audio (one male on each side) now my audio, still doesnt seem to be working. the motherboard is m4a87td (asus). i have the va hd audio deck (audio driver program, that stays on taskbar) and when i try and switch it to hdmi audio being default, it still doesnt work. any help please? thanks for reading guys.
Since HDMI inputs do not have separate audio inputs associated with them like DVI inputs must have you will not be able to use cables to hookup video and audio to the same input unless you have a DVI input on the TV. You would need something like this to do it.

i have digital audio output on the back of my tv...even that wouldn't work? if i use the hdmi male to dvi cable + spdif male to male cable? (i have that on my motherboard.) my guess is no, but im asking just to make sure.
i think i should include this picture (a page from my tv manual)
maybe i am missing something, i dont quite fully understand.
it says to use analog connection if using hdmi.
i have spdif on my motherboard, would that work?
thanks for your help.
i think i should include this picture too..its a picture of my hd audio deck program. it lets me select the audio device defaults. The defaults are set to my regular monitor and speaker set for now, just to say. i tried switching.
