Macally sells an external harddrive enclosure that takes firewire 2. But in the box is a firewire cable that has FW1 on one end and FW2 on the other. The point is you can use this enclosure on either your PC's firewire 1 or firewire 2 connector. I thought FW1 and FW2 are not interchangable?
Backwards compatibility My Foxconn board has FireWire 800, but uses the traditional style connection.
Beware of Windows issues with FireWire 800, you might get slower speeds with FireWire 800 drivers than with FireWire drivers.
