I can boot the computer fine, but the screen is black. What could be causing this?

You haven't plugged the monitor in

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Is it black all the time or is it only after windows loads?

Is it actually black or is the image just really dim?

Is the computer new or the monitor?

Onborad video or video card? If it's a card, is it snug in the slot?
