Xp install issues ...

I have been trying to install windows xp on my wifes PC. It has an asus board. Everytime I try and install xp I get the error;

Error in line 1768 of
d:\xpxlien\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c

And the install fails. I had a similiar problem on my Gigabye motherboard. In the end I figured out that the bios health warning (for fan and cpu heat) were screwing winxp. When I turned these off it works.

Unfortunetly on my wifes asus you can not disable the CPU warning, which means I can't install xp. Anyone seen this problem before?

I even tried installing win98 and upgrading, but the same error happens.

Have you checked Microsoft's knowledge base yet? It may be BIOS related but it is an O/S installation issue. I'd oblige but I'm a bit busy right now.
