Hi there,

To clarify my problem I thought I'd give some more detail. Hopefully someone will be able to advise me :)

There are two versions of a security camera that I can buy: one has an ethernet cable, the other uses the RS485 serial cable. The camera will be located on a Coast Watch station. Unfortunately the set up with the ethernet cable produces RF interference and messes the radar equipment used at the station.

The serial version of the camera produces no interference. But my problem is, how I get this camera to operate using a pc. The webcam is to be publically available and we have software that would work with the ethernet version of the camera.

I thought that a converter: serial-usb, serial-ethernet would be all that's required but my IT folk have doubts about that.

Our possible set ups are:

Camera - converter (ethernet) - hub - webserver - public

Camera - converter (usb/ethernet) - pc/server - hub - webserver - public

Thanks for any help,

Puzzle
