No audio from Home theatre when connected to laptop via hdmi.

Hello,
I have an HP DV6 laptop with an hdmi out. When connected to the Sony LCD TV via hdmi I get audio and video but when the audio from the tv is routed to a Philips HTS8140 soundbar via HDMI I lose tyhe audio. When the TV is switched to the regular TV channels the Audio works just fine through the Home theatre. Anyone got any ideas?

Specs for the Phillips HTS8140 Soundbar state the HDMI port is an output; not an input.
