Limited knowledge of computer workings. Help!

Hello,
So i have a windows7 laptop. I d/l music which goes into 'My Music'. Im recently finding that i cannot locate things that i have downloaded. I can search for the items and they appear in search results as being in that location. If i right click, this location opens but there are no files there. Can someone please tell me that im not going crazy

Did you check your downloads folder?

If not the downloads folder, before downloading your next file check to which location the data is being saved to. By the way what are you using to download, torrent app or web browser?
