Is Dell Phone Support Free?

I just purchased/received an Inspiron 6000 and needed phone support to get
the Intel Wireless card and the Netgear router set up properly. This took a
day of being on the phone a lot (hours) including calling Netgear on a
special number set up to support Dell buyers.

It looks like my phone bill is going to be about $100 for this. Isn't phone
support free?

My Dell invoice says I have 3 year ltd warranty, 3 years of technical
support and also third party at home service.

The phone service was obviously using the call center in India (the two guys
who helped me were very patient and accents were not an issue).

The Netgear support was also excellent.

But shouldn't this phone support be free????
