My friend puts a cloth over his LCD when not in use, according to him the direct sunlight will ruin a LCD, is that true?

Apart from perhaps overheating while in use or fading the plastic I don't think so and the first one can effect all electronics.

I may be wrong though.

I've read it up and it seems it can ruin the dye so it can mess up the colours..

aside from protecting your monitor from dust, I don't believe it would do anything.

just keep it the screen out of direct sunlight if its a major concern. blinds, curtains, or moving the setup would be a good way to start.
