I got an email from Intel marketing this morning. They'll sell me IntelĀ® PRO/1000 T Desktop Adapters for $65 each. Got me thinking, hmmmm. So over at pricewatch the least expensive switch for this I found was an Asante something or other for like $900. Well I could probably afford the adapters, and wire, but the dang switch is well out of my budget. Any body know of something in the say $0-200 range? Or maybe you have an idea to get this 3 system home LAN together on Giga without switches?
Buy 2 of the Intel cards & a crossed-over CAT5e/CAT6 cable. You will connect the machines with giga cards. In 1 of those machines add a second 10/100 card to access Net.

If you loan a friend $20 & never see them again, it was worth it.
