My screen goes ultra bright in the middle 3rd horizontally. I experience ghosting and really slow refresh rates on this part of the monitor. This problem is intermittent and doesn't seem to happen at any specific time. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Probably damaged pixels. Not much you can do other than RMA it.
