I just got 2 1800XP tbred A's in today. I looked on this page at temperatures and had a question http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20 [...] 00-02.html

I assume this is the coolest Athlon yet by that chart. I have a HS/Fan from a retail Athlon laying around. I don't know which it came from but since this 1800XP is supposed to be the coolest yet I should be able to use it right???

All I know is this cooler is a little shorter than the retail cooler from the Palomino 1800xp. so I think its a 1600XP. THe fan only is marked 'AMD 40316244'

Thanks so much.

ohhh BTW. I have a 1800PAL in another system. Is it worth my time and the risk to swap the second 1800Tbred in it? Or should I stick with the 1800 I already have installed? I don't care to OC as I'm about to dump the whole system in 2 weeks.

Yes, the TbredA 1700+ and 1800+ do run pretty cool, thanx to their 1.5v core voltage.
I have the xp1700+ tbred and i can even run mine at 1.4v!

As for that stock cooler, it should be quite sufficient.

As to your other computer, is the xp1800+ palomino overheating or putting out too much heat? If not i wouldnt worry about it, but the decision is up to you. The tbred will run cooler, but not any faster obviously, unless you overclock, and the tbred will probably overclock better.

THanks for the info. That was the way I was leaning. Sometimes I just need a little reassurance if you know what I mean.

Thanks.
