Before you throw it out the window, you can mail it to me 
. I ran across
this problem about a year ago right after SP2. If you have a backup machine,
you can slave the Corrupt OS hard drive to extract the data, but the OS will
have to be reinstalled. A Repair or Rollback will not work. Sorry
