This is HOT (Pal1600 or tbred1800)

I have 2 processors....
Pal 1600
tbred(a) 1800

I have a HTPC with a 145watt psu. Also since its enclosed in a cabinet the cooling can only do so much.

Which of the chips above draw less watts from the PSU?
Which requires less cooling? (I would imagine this is the same answer but who knows.)

THanks so much!

BTW: I did do a little research on AMD's site and calculated the wattage. But something doesn't seem right and thats why I asked here.

More about this pal1600 tbred1800
  1. Well considering I own BOTH i can tell u....the T-Bred 1800+ is MUCH cooler....both CPU's use the same HSF (Volcano 7) and both at full load the Palomino 1600+ is about 9-10 degrees hotter than the T-Bred 1800+ and my 1800+ is OC'd to 2000+........

Anyways yea so the 1800+ naturally draws less wattage, runs cooler, and has a lower VCore (1.50) as opposed to the Paly 1600+ being 1.75....so ur decission should be easy =)

  2. THanks so much. So this'll be the better choice for my HTPC

Thanks. Now to research to see if the board supports it.
